India: Clashes between Karbi and Rengma Naga tribes in Assam left 16 people dead and forced thousands more to flee their homes. A popular destination among wildlife tourists, Assam is best known for its Kaziranga National Park, one of the last strongholds of the Indian one-horned rhinoceros. Violence in the region has increased since late December, when Rengma villages in the Bokajan area of Karbi Anglong district were attacked and six Rengma Nagas were killed.
